As the drugs wore off, Bass wasn't sure he hadn't imagined it all, except he was clean and had clean clothes and Miles was...well, he was still Miles, but he seemed more like the Miles Bass has loved than the cold stranger that took his place, so he probably didn't imagine it, right? He was more sure when Miles told him his kid was in Mexico and agreed to take him there, no more delays. Of course, then men got themselves lit on fire and Miles collapsed, and shit went sideways, and Bass wanted to kill Rachel for hanging all over Miles like he was hers, but he bit it back and managed to keep his comments to himself, even if he got a bit sulky, earning him a few arched eyebrows from Charlie, but by the time Miles was better, Bass had it under control, mostly.
Not so well that Charlie wasn't insisting on coming with them to Mexico, which Bass didn't have much problem with, except for the part where he'd been hoping for actual time alone with Miles, hoping to figure something out and, ultimately, to be allowed to be a bit of a nervous wreck over the whole finding his kid thing which he coudln't be in front of Charlie. That had him a little jittery and on edge, but leaving Rachel behind and his clear certainty that finding his kid was somehow going to put a bunch of things right (don't ask him to explain how) made him a little bit more cheerful by the time they were a few miles out of Willoughby.
